1st Easter and Christening

We had a great weekend in Waxhaw and my mom's Owen's Neana's house.  Owen met his only living great grandparent, my Grandmom.  There were many special moments, that I will treasure in my heart forever.
Great Grandmom and Owen's Hands

Great Grandmom and Neanna were so excited when Owen arrived on Friday night.

4 generations

Friday evening Owen met his Great Grandmom and she wanted to hold him all night even when she got tired and it was passed her bedtime.  I think the traveling and excitement at the house got Owen very wound up and he had a very hard time going to sleep that night.  Finally, we decided to put him down and let him cry it out and I think he was so relieved to not be held.  Though he did cry for about 10 minutes before giving it up.

Saturday, we all slept in ate a leisurely breakfast before heading out to lunch and some antique shopping.  When we got the call that my cousins were in town we hurried home to spend time with them and so they could meet Owen.  Weslee and Julie were so sweet with him and I know they are going to love him and teach him many things at our annual beach trip every year.

Saturday evening we ate a wonderful spagattie dinner with s'mores for desert by the fire.  Owen didn't go out to the fire, but had a quite time with my Aunt Jamie and I enjoyed relaxing and hanging out too.

Sunday so quick!  We had to hurry and get dressed to be at the church by 9:15am.  It was a very special service.  Not only were we praising Jesus' rebirth, but Owen's birth.  Owen did wonderful during the Christening, he didn't cry, but was awake and alert just watching Pastor Rick as he spoke.  It was a beautiful symbolic service moving many in our family to tears.

the baptism

oh that was a little unexpected!

He was so good the whole time, not a peep.

I love those baby legs!

This is the candle that we will light with Owen each April 24th to remember his baptism.
Sweet face

After church we ate another amazing meal of roasted chicken, squash casserole, 3 bean salad, rosemary bread, caesar salad and strawberry shortcake for desert!  YUM!  Then we hung out around the house while everyone packed and got their last snuggles with Owen.

Great Grandmom is so fun!

cloth diapers update

I updated my thoughts/reviews on the cloth diapers.  You can see it by clicking the link on the top of my page that says: cloth diaper reviews (clever huh!?!) or clicking HERE.

So far we have been really pleased with the whole idea.  I will say I think it has been wonderful for Owen's sensitive little tush!  No wet wipes for us only cloth please!

I would love to hear what CDs you are using!!

It is a sunny day so this is what my backyard looks like:
Sorry for the horrible cell picture.

Aunt Robyn's Visit

Aunt Robyn came to spend a weekend with Owen and his mommy too!  We had a great time hanging out around the house and even did some shopping before I got sick.  Aunt Robyn and Owen got some good snuggles in.

You can see they were fascinated with each other!

Owen: 7 weeks

  • You have grown so much this week, daddy and friends have both commented on how big you are getting.
  • We weight you on our home scale with daddy holding you and we think you are about 12 pounds!
  • You are giving us about 4-4.5 hours of sleep and then another 3-3.5 hour stretch.  This makes mommy more human and not a zombie.
  • You crack mommy up when you decide to poop in the middle of a meal!  Your faces are so funny!  You like to be held, because it looks like it is lot of hard work to get it out.
  • We stopped giving you the gas drops and you seem to be doing fine.  You still have some poots that make you squeal in pain, but most you dont seem to notice though the rest of the house can hear them!
  • You are smiling so big now at us!   It melts our hearts and we cant get enough of them.
  • You have started to squeal the cutest cry when I burp you the first time at each feeding.  It is like you are so impatient...so like me!
  • I think you are about to out grow your newborn diapers and are starting to fit into the best bottom ones and the AIO bumgenius ones.  These are both more trim on your bottom and clothes seem to fit a little better.
  • You still have your hair and I think it is the perfect amount!  People are always commenting on your nice noggin!
  • You have discovered your peepee, you are starting to grab down there!
