the secret is out!

So, we had decided to just tell immediate family and friends about our good news. Well, I guess I didn't tell my dad that and at my sister's wedding this past weekend he announced it on the mike at the reception to over 200 people! Oh well, the only people that don't know are my coworkers and I am waiting to tell them after the u/s; which should be around the middle of October.

I don't know what I was thinking last week when I scheduled my health ed and u/s, but I called and canceled both this morning. Basically, since we have to pay everything out of pocket they want the money up front. We are talking 3k!!! Then the offer on the house was finalized and I realized I would rather go to a doctor in the new city we are moving to instead of in gtown. I called my girl Christie and got her midwife's name and practice and we are scheduled for the first round of b/w and meeting with the nurse practitioner on Wednesday morning. Chris is so cute and wants to come with me!!! I can't wait to have the final date for the u/s and a more exact due date! We are still saying May 20th but I have a feeling I will be due in June....we shall see!

any book suggestions?

I put up the ferning microscope, the opk tests and the thermometer last night!!! It felt great!!! Tonight, I am going to dig through the tubberware containers in the basement full of baby stuff and get the books back out and begin to read them! I love to read so if you have any great suggestions of any books let me know. One tip my sister-in-law told me was to go ahead and read some parenting books while pregnant. So, any good books on parenting let me know those too! We went to Walmart last night and while we were there Chris bought some honey buns. I turned to him and said "now that you are going to be a Daddy you might need to rethink your lunches, I am not letting our kids take honey buns to school". He just grinned, and agreed! Though, it came back to bite me when I was tired of walking threw the store and he said "now that your pregnant you need to get your exercise so you can push my baby out!" LOL he is right! I have got my IPOD and my book and I am headed to the gym tonight to do some walking on the treadmill and the stationary bike, with my heart rate monitor to make sure I don't get to over heated!

Day 2 of knowing I am pregnant and LOVING IT!
What is going on inside me:
Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

6 week belly pic

Doctor's office says I am 6 weeks but I am prepared for a backslide once we do and u/s. Anyway, Chris was so excited when I got home and could not stop grinning and hugging me. I, of course, am my usual self that tried to ruin the moment; but at the last minute relaxed and let it be wonderful. (I am a horrible wife that I don't want to hug my husband the minute i walk in the door, with bags in my hands and feeling hot and sweaty). Side note: I was hot and sweaty because my AC is unhooked while we are having repairs done to the house and I had a cavity filled and sweat when I am nervous and I have had nervous jitters all day b/c we are PG!!!!

My dentist diagnosed my first PG symptom, sensitive teeth. I'm not complaining!

Also, thanks to Anna for all the newborn stuff!!! Be it a girl or boy i've got it covered!

CD40 and we are PG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, this morning AF still had not arrived and I decided if I tested then I knew she would rear her head and we could move on....well.......BFP!!!!!!!!!!!! BIG FAT POSITIVE!!! Chris and I are scared to get too excited but at the same time we are ECSTATIC!!!! Chris was so cute asking if the faint line was too faint to believe...I was like a positive is a positive!!! At this point, he picked me up threw us on the bed and looked into my eyes and started tearing up!

Thank you Lord for blessing us in so many ways!!! I never thought I would be the one to get PG the month before starting Clomid. I prayed that I would be, but never truly believed it! So, here is our first meeting with our little bean and the crazy temperature chart that got us to today.

hope on CD37

so check out the jump in temps!!! OMG!!! This really makes me get my hopes up (dang it-I really don't want to get disappointed). I hope this isn't going to be a fluke and that our room was hot this morning or something like that. Crossing my fingers and toes and sending prayers to the One above that our little one is on their way.

This would be a miracle BFP!

I am still here (CD36 ugh)

I am trying not to think about POAS; due to my drop in temps there really isn't much of a chance for this crazy loooooooooooooooooooooong cycle.

Just wanted to say thanks to all my followers and well wishers. I am alive and thankfully very distracted with the offer and multiple counter offers on our house. Say some prayers that they accept our offer tonight!

CD31 and the $ we've spent

Today I spent some time separating my health file into two files. One is a basic health file and the next one is my IF file. In doing this I tallied how much we have spent and I was surprised it was as high as it was. I've added the list to the side of my blog and will be updating it as we continue this journey.

So, I knew the money was a lot, but I had never sat down and added it up. Whew, over $800. At that is before we even have a bun in the oven. Plus the delivery will be out of pocket apx $8-10k!!! This baby is going to be expensive. Hopefully, the clomid will be our ticket as it will only be $11 a month, I can handle that...but the further we go in this medical intervention the more the prices continue to go up.

CD29: who ovulates this late?.....me!

Seriously, this can't be good for trying to get pregnant to ovulate this late? REALLY cycle day 26??!!!! I am pissed at my body. I really don't think there is a chance out there that this is a "good quality" egg and there is not much of a chance that anything reached that egg to fertilize it.... my hope for a pregnancy to begin before the end of the year are flying out the window faster than I can type...I hope the next 11 days will pass quickly and AF will make her arrival on time and we can move on past this roller coaster that I call my cycle.

On a positive note: my luteal phase is consistently 14 days (NORMAL!!!!) so the countdown is on till CD1 (9/21/09).

PS: to the possible future baby that this cycle could produce; I am sorry for being so negative, but it is all about self preservation.

CD28

I think I am at the point of I don't believe it will ever happen. It is happening for other people all the time. I used to picture what it would it would feel like to see the 2 pink lines, how I would tell my husband, how we would tell our families. I can't imagine what it would feel like to know there is a child growing inside of me. Even typing that feels like a foreign language to me. There used to be this excitement at the beginning of each cycle, thinking "this could be the one!" now it is more feelings of confusions and the good old: why me? why us, God? what is your plan? I don't understand anymore.

I love my husband, I mean really truly deep in my soul LOVE him. I hate seeing in his eyes the disappointment.

when is it my turn?

CD27

:( still no positive ovulation and my chart shows that I didn't reach the 3rd level either....I really want to move past this cycle and get rolling with our new plan, thank goodness for taking these temps or I would be a depressed mess taking HPTests and getting negatives!

on a positive note: We had a great labor day weekend with Chris' family.

CD22: dr apt

I was nervous to have Chris go to a DR appointment with me. Actually, I was hoping the first one he would go on would be an ultrasound. I said this to him in the waiting room this morning and he said not to think that way and that this was ok too. I love him, he is wonderful. Basically the morning was a lot of waiting. Once we arrive, we waited about 15 minutes before going to the back. Then they weighed me and took my blood pressure, just to let us wait another 20 minutes!

Finally, we were face to face with Dr. L; she was great! She walked us through all our prior tests, going over the results again with us. For some reason his SA results were in a strange spot in the computer file, so it took her a few minutes to find them. I kept telling her that one of the nurses gave us the results so it HAD to be in there somewhere. Correspondence, this is where she found the results. She is having it moved in case we need to find them again. But, I am getting off topic...oh yes his results! So, Chris's sperm are little rock stars! Every number she would tell us, his was higher! Usually 10-30 million higher than normal! MILLIONS higher!!!!! I looked over a Chris's face and you could tell he was proud of his little men! Big grin on his face! He is proud of his millions!

Side note: honey, sorry for calling them "little" again, i know you don't like it; i dont mean it as little as in too small, but little as in cute! (i get in trouble with chris calling his sperm "little"!)

So, at this point Dr. L recommend we start 5 days of 50mg of clomid (see below for what it does). I will start the drug on cycle day 3. Then on day 21, I will have some blood taken to see how my progesterone level is. Basically, to see how strong my ovulation was. If it was not strong she will up the medication. Then after 3 cycles if we are still not PG :( we will head back to her office and start talking about artificial insemination (IUI). But, lets not go there yet. She is positive that since my charts are showing an ovulation that this is a good sign, much better chances than if I didn't ovulate at all. Positive thoughts and prayers!

Thanks to all my bump ladies for all your help, I think that knowing she was going to suggest clomid before hand was easier for Chris and I to take this step forward. We both talked about fertility drugs and feel that God has given the doctors this knowledge for a reason and at this point we are comfortable with the direction we are headed.

Clomid, Clomiphene Citrate

Clomid is often a first line treatment to induce regular ovulation. Clomid works at the level of the hypothalamus where it competes for estrogen binding sites. When these "sites are occupied" by Clomid, the hypothalamus responds by producing more GnRH which then stimulates the pituitary to produce FSH. Remember, in a normal cycle healthy follicles produce estrogclomiden, which signals the hypothalamus to reduce production of FSH. Clomiphene is marketed in the United States by Aventis Laboratories as Clomid and by Serono Laboratories as Serophene.

The goal of Clomid therapy in treating infertility is to establish normal ovulation rather than cause the development of numerous eggs. Once ovulation is established, there is no benefit to increasing the dosage further . Numerous studies show that pregnancy usually occurs during the first three months of infertility therapy and treatment beyond six months is not recommended. Clomid can cause side effects such as ovarian hyperstimulation (rare), visual disturbances, nausea, diminished "quality" of the cervical mucus, multiple births, and others.

Clomid is often prescribed by generalists as a "first line" ovulation induction therapy. Most patients should undergo the fertility "workup" prior to beginning any therapy. There could be many causes of infertility in addition to ovulatory disorders, including endometriosis, tubal disease, cervical factor and others. Also, Clomid therapy should not be initiated until a semen analysis has been completed.

I need help your ladies!!

So, Chris and I are headed to the Dr's in the morning, of course first off I need all your prayers. Pray that Chris or myself don't get too freaked out and scared about this new phase that we are about to venture into.

Second, those of you out there that have done this before. Do you have any suggestions? What do I need to ask the DR while I am there. What was your first steps. Last time I was there she mentioned the drug clomid. Were you monitored through the first several cycles? Is there anything you wish you had known if you could go back and start from the beginning. I am so nervous, we are not ready to jump to an RE yet. But that is one of the things I will be talking to her about.

I am still hoping that this cycle will be our miracle! TIA!

And we are headed up again!! I am getting dizzy from this roller coaster ride! We BD'ed last night so here's hoping we are making babies!!
