new eyes

It is so true that when you have a child you bask in the glory of them.  I love watching Owen learn his body parts so far he knows: hair, eyes, nose (beep beep), mouth, hands, feet, and belly button.  I haven't even tried to ask him if he knows his head, shoulders, knees and toes!

Today my sweet boy came up with a new game; teapot turned rocket! What a boy!

update on the other side of my heart

I have decided to become public.  We are trying for baby number 2.  Gosh that still doesn't sound right, my first 2 babies were the twins.  Owen is my baby number 3 and unfortunately right before Mother's day, we had an early miscarriage.  So, we are trying for #5? pregnancy #4? or basically take home baby number 2....what a screwed up mind blowing thing.

Ok, information overload about to begin.  So, skip to the bottom if you just want to see cute baby face pictures.

I stopped breastfeeding Owen back around the holidays so that hopefully my period would return.  It did as soon as the milk dried up.  We tried without any medical assistance, but no such luck.  Then, I tried what was our miracle drug for Owen.  Clomid.

Cycle 1 (Dec 27th): Clomid 50 mg; CDs 3-7.  BFN 36 days.
Cycle 2 (Feb 1st): Clomid 50 mg; CDs 3-7.  BFN 29 days.
Cycle 3 (Mar 3rd): Clomid 100 mg; CDs 3-7. BFN 31 days.
Cycle 4 (Apr 3rd): Clomid 100 mg; CDs 3-7.  Positive Pregnancy Test, line grows fainter.  1st beta 21, 2nd Beta 6, Chemical Pregancy.  31 days.
Cycle 5 (May 5th): no drugs, break cycle to try on our own. 36 days, BFN.
Cycle 6 (Jun 10th): 150 mg; CDs 3-7.  IUI on CD 16.  BFN.  I am still waiting on AF to show.  POAS is neg.

Yesterday after seeing my BFN, I decided to call a RE.  I had currently been monitored at my OBGYN's office.  Lucky for me they had a cancellation for TODAY.  My wonderful in-laws kept Owen for 3 hours while I drove 50 minutes to meet with the Dr.

I am so glad we are making this move to a RE.  He asked all the right questions, listened to my thoughts our history.  Agreed that I don't ovulate.  Said that they never do clomid, due to the side effects and poor results.  He, also, thought we didn't need to do the IUI right now.  The boy stuff is getting where it needs to be...we just need to have a good ovulation so that it will work.  He did run a few blood work tests, including thyroid check, repeated the AMH and the last one I can't remember but something to see if my hormone level was still raised from breastfeeding.  That it could still be raised and if so it could throw my whole cycle off!  I didn't even know that this existed.  They said it should be about 5 days to get those results.  He said we could do a repeat HSG, but he didn't think we needed to but wanted to offer it to me.  I agreed that since my recent chemical pregnancy the pipes work (so to speak).

I was given the option of 3 different medication routes. When he was talking they were all a blur.  Then we began discussing cost and also the fact that my drive was almost an hour.  We chose an injectable cycle that once they see how I am reacting to the meds they will send me home to my husband.  NO IUI!  This route will hopefully save me a couple trips out of town, but will also give me the best chance at getting pregnant for the money.  Then he had his staff look into which medication was covered by our insurance (saving us $$!!) and gave us some samples!  Yippee for freebies!

Thursday I will go for a class to learn all about how to give the shots and they will get my prescriptions ordered.  They will most likely be mailed to me.  So, now we wait for AF.  I am ready to get this ball rolling.

Ok, if you know me in real life.  I don't mind the comments on here. I actually prefer them because I know who is actually knowing my business.  If you know me or don't know me I would appreciate your prayers.  I truly believe that this will not happen if it isn't His timing.  I am just hoping and praying this is His way.  (I don't want to get into a big religious discussion on here).  God created me with the desire to be a mother.  Chris and I have always wanted 3 children.  Right now we are so thankful for Owen, the true miracle and joy of our life right now.  We really have the desire for him to have the blessing of a sibling.  Somehow someway this will happen.  I have hope again.

And the part of my heart that lives outside of my body:

We Did It! Wednesday!

A sewing blog I follow links up on Wednesdays and here is what I have done today!

I took a pair of Carters overalls that had a hole in them and made a little toy sack with snaps that Owen can use to practice snapping.  I should have taken a before picture but they looked something like these:

Here is the little toy sack!

the back
My second project was making a small pillow and 2 pillowcases for it.  I used a soft light blue jersey and some minky fabric for the trim.  The pillow I made from half of an old pillow.

SOOOOO!  I DID IT WEDNESDAY!!

I think a 50+ words we are stopping counting!

I am sure I am missing some!  We are so proud of our smart boy!

This happened tonight and I am amazed by how much Owen really understands.  Owen brought me the red bucket part of this shape sorter.

I, for some reason, decided to ask him to bring me the shapes.  And. He. Did.  He crawled from our dining room into the sunroom behind is play house and got a shape and brought it to me.  I then asked him to bring me another and another and another and each time he would bring the shape and put it in the bucket.  Then I asked him for the lid.  He did get a little distracted by a really cool book on the way, but after a little prompting from daddy (IE: waving the yellow lid in front of him) he brought me the lid too!  He kept trying to stick his hand through the shape hole to get a shape and pull it out.  I showed him that you have to dump the shapes on the floor and put in them through the holes.  Well, I did one shape and he was shoving my hand away because HE had to do it!  We spent a good 15 minutes straight sitting on the floor in our dining room doing the shapes over and over again.  I was amazed by his attention span.  Of course at the end he left all the pieces all over the floor!  Haha!

Beach pictures to come later, but after all the walking on the sand when we got home Owen took off!

He now will stand up and walk without prompting!  We are so proud of our talker and walker!

Enjoy a little clip of our walker!

this sums it up

I just read this:

"My desire to have a child is greater than the pain I endure."

Wish I could say I came up with those words.  I know many women can agree to this.

Owen: 15 months

Does every mother say this every month?  Wow, where do our days go?

Owen is 15 months and talking up a storm! I am not sure how many words he uses because we are loosing count.  The other day we did flash cards and he was able to say 9 of them, recently he has started calling our cat through the window: sra-ga for Scraggles!

We are not walking yet.  He can do it if he wanted to, but the more we push him the more he resists.  When a friend of mine Ashley was tempting him with a toy he wanted he took one step!  He can stand if he has toys in his hands and he doesn't think about it.  Owen is a cautious little boy.  In new situations he sits back and watches everything.  Once he warms up he is off and crawling, talking to everything/everyone and clapping his hands!

He loves a bath and splashes about!  He loves to read books and brings them to me all the time.  Recently, after waking up in the morning or after naps he wants to snuggle.  He needs a little mommy time before he is ready to play.

His new kitchen set has made for hours of entertainment.  Owen will pull out a fork and spoon and carry them all over the house!  I think we had about 20 to start with and now they are everywhere.  I know there is  probably one in each room, one in my purse, in the diaper bag, in the minivan as you can see these have been so much fun!  He is even learning to use them when he eats!  Several times he has stabbed the food and gotten it into his mouth, but usually he puts it on the fork with the other hand and half the time he just puts it near the fork and then eats it out of his hand because really it is faster that way!

Our picky eater has tried some new foods this week and loved them including strawberries and spaghetti squash!  The only thing is now he wont eat his scrambled eggs or grilled chicken....one new food is

Photo dump time:
flying with daddy
strawberries his new favorite food
kisses for mommy
antique car show with daddy
crazy hair bath time!
corn on the cobb like daddy
the best we can do trying to get a picture of mommy and Owen haha!

Mothers Day...good or bad?

You would think that now that I have Owen that Mother's Day would be one of my favorite days of the year.  It's not.  Mother's Day makes me remember the years that we wished for a child, the year when my arms were empty after losing the twins, makes me wish for another child and makes me think of all the woman who are hurting because of this greeting card holiday.  I just read this really amazing post by a fellow blogger and I can not even begin to describe the way she describes Mother's Day.  The blog post is written to a pastor of any church, but I think it can relate to everyone throughout the whole day.  It shows how Mother's day can be hurtful to some and how with a few words we could change that.

Here is the post, it is worth the click and the 2 minutes to read it:  http://messymiddle.com/2012/05/10/an-open-letter-to-pastors-a-non-mom-speaks-about-mothers-day/

I would love to hear your thoughts on this post and on Mothers Day in general.

Now, I don't want you to think I didn't truly treasure my son on that day, because I did.  I am so very thankful for this little boy in my life.  He makes every day a special day.
