Owen: 2 weeks

Owen:
  • doing so much better with the breastfeeding they are right when they say it gets easier
    • a new friend sent us a breast friend pillow, we used it last night and I think it really helps me sit up straight and hopefully will help the spot in my back
    • we tried out laying down nursing this morning and it went great!  I think it might be my new early morning feeding
  • we started cloth diapering, so far so good, he really does better at changing time now; though he has a really bad diaper rash right now
    • last night we did some naked butt time, added fleece inserts, started using cloth wipes and tried a new diaper rash balm
    • this morning it didn't look worse so hopefully we are doing whats right and he will start healing
  • he doesn't spit up a lot but from what i have been told it could still be coming after 2 weeks, i hope not!
  • our day routine is something like this:
    • last night feed then sleep on mommy or daddy's chest; for some reason once it is light out he knows he doesn't want to be in the bassinet.
    • Owen eats breakfast, gets diaper change and into swing or vibrating chair
    • Mommy eats breakfast, pumps and checks email till time to eat again
    • Owen eats, gets diaper change and back to his seats
    • Mommy showers, cleans house or does laundry/dishes
    • Owen eats, gets diaper change and snuggle time with mommy/we both take a nap
    • Daddy gets home!
    • Owen eats, gets diaper change, snuggle tome with daddy
    • Mommy and Daddy eat dinner
    • Owen eats, gets diaper change, and into bassinet and Mommy and Daddy go to sleep
  • our night time routine is starting to become a pattern:
    • eat, burp, eat more
    • fall asleep on the second boob
    • change diaper
    • eat some more-we are at about an hour at this point
    • get swaddled and hat on
    • sleep in bassinet
    • repeat in 3ish hours
"mom, why am i on the floor?"

    Mommy:
    • Incision is starting to feel better, still half numb in areas and the tape is still on; still feel soar but thankfully no pain
    • Starting to reduce the pain meds, really just need a little at the end of the day
    • I actually was able to get some showers in this week and even shave my legs!
    • Doing my best to get a nap in each day, though it is hard with all the things I want to accomplish around the house and for Owen
    • Officially, the swelling is gone in my feet and legs!  Hurray!
    • My back still aches, we tried a stool, but it was too tall, might have to actually buy a nursing stool.
    • I lost 2.5 lbs this week; so a total of 23.5 lbs lost since delivery.
      • so 21.5 pounds to pre-Owen weight and 33.5 lbs to my pre-pregnancies weight...got a ways to go still, but i haven't been cleared for exercise and the breastfeeding should help a lot at sucking the weight off so i am very positive about my 2.5 lbs lost this week!
